eukaryotic replisomes, mechanistic aspects of novel protein function
In this project you will take on the exciting challenge of understanding the functioning of eukaryotic replisomes at the single-molecule level. We are looking to hire a candidate who will study the dynamics of helicase loading, helicase maturation, and replication elongation, among other topics. To do this, you will utilise our high-throughput, physics-based, single-molecule force spectroscopy and fluorescence imaging systems that are capable of acquiring large datasets under a variety of different conditions. You will be involved in the purification and labelling of proteins as necessary. You will analyse resulting datasets using biophysical modelling, and discuss extensively with collaborators in the areas of molecular biology and biochemistry.
We are looking to hire outstanding experimentalists for this exciting collaborative project. We are in particular looking for a prospective post-doctoral researcher who is keen to head a biophysical project designed to understand the mechanistic aspects of novel protein function. As a post-doctoral researcher on this project, you will be responsible for planning and carrying out the experiments and for analysing the data. You will be expected to contribute to the interpretation of the biophysical experiments on the basis of detailed analysis, to acquire an in-depth knowledge of the background literature, and to integrate the results of your data with those of ongoing molecular biology and biochemistry experiments in the field. A strong background in physics or biophysics is a an absolute must, as is a good command of spoken and written English.
