The Laboratory of Biochemistry at Wageningen University focuses its research on how proteins control biological processes, with an emphasis on the living cell. We maintain a research infrastructure to support our research program - encompassing mass spectrometry, advanced microscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. We integrate biochemical approaches with cell biological, evolutionary, bioinformatics, genetic and computational strategies to address biological questions. To further strengthen our group and support our research and education activities, the Laboratory of Biochemistry invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in the area of Protein Biochemistry. We are looking for an expert in fundamental Protein Biochemistry (e.g. proteomics, structural biology, or single-molecule analysis) who integrates Protein Biochemistry with complementary approaches to address important biological problems in genetically tractable model organisms.

You are an ambitious and enthusiastic and creative scientist and team player. Devoted to research and education with a strong background in Protein Biochemistry. You also have:
- a PhD degree in Biochemistry or a related discipline
- at least 2 years of post-doctoral research experience
- international experience, preferably through PhD or post-doc abroad
- experience and proven success in the acquisition of independent research funding
- excellent communication skills
- good didactic qualities and enthusiasm for teaching and working with (under)graduate students
- proven research excellence, as demonstrated by publications in top journals
- furthermore you are an ambitious and enthusiastic scientist and a team player.
ConditionsWe offer you as talented scientist a challenging career trajectory called Tenure Track. From the position of Assistant Professor you can grow into a Professor holding a Personal Chair. Of course training and coaching are provided and interdisciplinary (international) cooperation is stimulated. You will also be given the chance to build up your own research line. As we will only be selecting outstanding candidates to take part in Tenure Track, this will be a good stepping stone to a further career within Wageningen UR or elsewhere.
We offer a temporary contract with the possibility of extension, for 38 hours per week. Gross salary: from
€ 4152,-. to € 5780,- based on a full time employment and dependent on expertise and experience.

The Laboratory of Biochemistry focuses on understanding how proteins control biological processes, with a strong emphasis on the biological context (Cellular Biochemistry). The Chair is highly international, and has a strong international reputation. Research in the Chair is funded both through competitive national and international funding, and through partnerships with industry. The Chair offers both basic and advanced BSc and MSc courses in Biochemistry, and hosts many students at BSc and MSc level for dedicated research projects. We expect a new tenure track assistant professor to contribute to the Chair's excellence in research and teaching.
